I think it was a test!!

For some reason mum doesn’t want to leave me in charge of the house when she’s out?  I have no idea why not, I mean, what does she think will happen?  I’m 9 months old now and I think I can be trusted, I just have to convince mum and dad…..

As we’ve had a lot of rain for a couple of weeks the garden is still pretty wet, yep, the mud is my fault…..:) So mum is reluctant to leave me in the garden when they go out as she thinks I’ll get all messy…..she’s probably got a good point, plus, I really don’t want any more baths!!

Mum’s starting to come round to my idea that she shouldn’t leave me in my crate as I’d prefer not to be in there……at last she gets it!!  So, the other night when they were going out for dinner, no I didn’t get an invite this time :(  they decided to leave me on my own in the bedroom, OUT of my crate!!

No more crate for this puppy......well that's my plan.....:)

Mum and Dad both checked the room lots of times to see if there was anything I could turn into a toy, they left me with a Dentastix and my bone and some toys and of course, my bed!

I'm more than happy to just hang out in my bed....:)

I had a feeling this was some sort of test……I’d better not mess up…….

Apparently they were kind of nervous whilst at dinner and didn’t stay very long.  I heard them arriving home, so I was ready, Dad said Mum could go in first and see if I’d totally wrecked the bedroom!!  Mum cautiously opened the door and there I was, sat waiting on the other side looking extremely innocent, well of course!!

Mum breathed a big sigh of relief and told Dad I’d passed, yippee!!  See, I can be trusted!!  I’m getting all grown up and mature, well, we’ll see what happens next time……tee hee……at least I know there will be a next time!!

Well what did you expect? Mischief? :)

I wonder what age other puppies get trusted to be home alone uncrated?

  1. Very good job Snoopy! Your friends Spike and Dru were left uncrated from about 6 months. However, after they at the wall (yes they ate a wall) they are now left uncrated but in their X-pen. Lots of room but no access to anything that will hurt them or our wallets (like a new wall).

    • oh, poor Spike and Dru, I guess they didn’t realise it was a test! :( I used to have a play pen when I was little but luckily I grew out of it and got to roam around the house, I don’t like to be restricted. I think I’m supposed to be herding sheep, so I’m a bit of a free spirit……luckily for me I haven’t been tempted to eat any walls yet :)

Woofs to spike and dru :)

  2. Good job Snoopy!

Rudy gets to stay out of his crate when we’re gone sometimes, but not always. It depends on a couple of things: 1) How long we’re going to be gone and 2) If the sun is shining!

Yep, if the sun is shining, Rudy will find his favorite place to lay in a sunbeam and zone out for hours. Otherwise, he roams the house looking out the windows. Every once in a while, if he sees another dog walk by or a particularly antagonizing squirrel, he’ll decide to “mark” his territory by a certain chair.

This only happens every few months, but even that’s too often for Rudy’s mum. So, no sun . . . in the crate he goes!

    • Hey Steve,

Yep, I think I’m gonna be on rule number 1) how long they’re gone? At least while I’m on probation!!

I bet Rudy wishes you lived in California? We’re lucky and get lots of sunshine, I just don’t like it when it gets too hot, no sitting in the sunbeam for me with all this fur!!

I think my Dad would freak out if I did that chair trick……..I’d better try to be on my best behaviour!!

Hope you’re having a great day and Woofs to Rudy,

      Snoopy :)

  3. Way to go, Snoopy! It sounds like you made your parents very proud!

We don’t blame you for wanting to hang out in your bed. It looks so soft and comfy. Have a great weekend!

  5. You sure are lucky, Snoopy! I’m allowed to stay out of my “house” all night and most of the day when someone in my human family is home, but I’m still not allowed to stay out when my human family leaves for longer than 10 minutes. I don’t know why though…Nala gets to stay out. That might be because she’s 12 and just lays around most of the time. But I would like to try it — sounds like fun! Woofs & hugs! ~Bailey

    • Hey Bailey,

I think you need to be allowed to stay out too…..I’m sure you’d have fun with Nala, maybe if you do the big soppy look for your humans they might do a trial? I’ve been allowed to stay home alone since too as I was so good during my trial…….:)

      Good luck Bailey :)
