Snoopy’s great escape…..

Mum is always really careful to ensure that the whole family shut the doors and the gate so I can’t escape.  I don’t know what she thinks I’d do or where I’d go, but she really doesn’t want to find out…..doh!

Well, that is until she slipped up this weekend.  Luckily, I was ready and knew it was one of the few chances I would get to escape and I went for it.

The entrance to the garage has two doors and mum usually makes me wait by the first one and shuts that before she even opens the second one.  Yep, it makes it kinda difficult to escape.  This time though, she thought she’d shut the first door and I was waiting patiently for her to come back.  She was only grabbing her running shoes so we could go for a run, so I didn’t have long.  I saw a bright light through the open crack in the door and realised that the garage door was open.  I made a mighty dash for it while her back was turned…..this was going to be easy as I didn’t even have my collar on, so there was no way she could catch me…..:)

Well, what puppy could resist when mum made it so easy?

I was on my way to go and see if Cosmo next door wanted to play.  I was through the first door……phew!  Then I was through the second door and heading towards the bright day light out of the garage, I’d made it!!  Doh!!  All of a sudden I heard mum shouting Noooooo!!  She’d seen me, but I was going at the speed of light, I’d make it……or so I thought!!  I’d not appreciated how quick mums reactions were and I hadn’t taken into account my long fur on my rear end, which she now had grasped in her hand……..I came to an abrupt stop and it was game over!!

Well, she can’t blame me for trying, I don’t know why she thinks she can’t trust me, I would have come back when we were done playing………:)

Why does mum think I can't be trusted?

  1. Awwww, Snoopy. I’m sure once you gave her that look all was forgiven :)

    • Hi Vicky,

I’ve been practising that look for ages, hopefully I’ve got it mastered now…..it’s my ‘get out of trouble’ special look……tee hee :)

      Snoopy :)

  2. Snoopy Dog — I feel your pain! It’s a wonder there is ANY hair left on my bum! You get to go a lot more interesting places if you stick by Mum’s side … nut’n out there for a pup to see all alone! YBB, Turner

    • Hey Turner

Thanks for the advice, maybe you’re right? Mum was saying the same thing…..

Yep, I really thought I’d made it until I felt her hand on my fur, it must be getting long now….doh!!

      Snoopy :)

  3. Oh Snoopy, I know that sick to your stomach feeling your mom must have gotten. Your friends Spike and Dru have done it to me three or four times.

  4. Very funny, especially about your long hair getting you grabbed! This brought back memories of my cat escaping when I was a little girl. She didn’t go outside but wanted to get out there to eat grass. I would get so scared! So Snoopy, don’t give your mum such a scare! (But that cute look will make up for a lot :) )

    • Hi Judy,

Yep, I think mum was pretty scared…..ooops!! But she didn’t need to worry, I was only going next door…..:) I heard of someone putting a cat on a lead, maybe you could have done that? I’m not sure cats would like leads as much as dogs though, as the other cats may laugh!!

      Snoopy :)

  5. Well, Snoopy, I think that if you’d really, really wanted to escape you would have. A bouncy dog like you could outrun your Mom any time if you put your mind to it. But deep down you know how good you have it with her – all those cuddles, the fun, the love. The list goes on. I think you’ve got a great deal.

    • Hey there Fiona,

You know you’re right, I think upon reflection I probably do have it pretty good, now if only they’d put a dog flap in the fence so I could go and play with Cosmo it would be pawfect!!

      :)

  6. Oh Snoopy….that is not nice….trust is built upon what you do when Mum ISN”T looking……I KNOW she was scared. Jake – the only dog to ever do this to me in my whole life – got away from the yard TWICE in the same day….and my heart sank….don’t do that again! Although I am sure she knows that you just wanted to play with your friend ….but next time you need to just ask…she’s listening : )

    • Hi there Rachel,

I’m taking to heart your advice about trust, it was just so tempting though when I could see the glimpse of sunshine, at least I didn’t try to break Jakes record and I was really good for the rest of the day…..:)

      Woofs to the pack,
      Your pal Snoopy :)

  7. So cute! Ozzie and Roxy would love to go and explore alone but we are super careful too. I guess we just worry about you all so much and don’t want any harm to come to you.

    • Hey Louise

Maybe we could all go exploring together, we’d come back! Anyway, I’ve got a better sense of direction than mum, I always know the short way home…..:)

      Woofs to the pups,

      Snoopy :)
