How you can overcome a fear of Dogs – Part 2 of 2

Thank you for all the lovely comments on Part 1 of this post about my new career as a journalist/interviewer –  I think there are no limits to what us Dogs (and Non-Dogs) can do if we put our minds to it! :)

It’s great to be just having fun! :)

Hmmmm, I wonder what I might do next to make someone smile? :)

As promised, here’s the second part of my interview with comedian Steve Hofstetter who was afraid of Dogs, but who recently met and rescued his lovely Dog Bea.

9)  What good/not so good thing had you least expected about having a Dog in your life?
I need sleep. Bea gets up around 4 or 5 AM every morning, shakes, and goes back to sleep. Thus we do too. But I am pleasantly surprised at how okay with it I am – she’s worth it.
10)  Where does Bea sleep and does she wake you up in the morning?
She has a dog bed near ours. She’ll wake us up accidentally by walking around and doing her patented “reboot” (when she shakes her head and re-sets herself). But she doesn’t lick us or bark if we sleep in. Which we don’t.
11)  Where is Bea’s favourite place to go?
She’s kind of getting into driving with us. She was terrified of the car at first, but now she jumps right in the back and puts her head on the console. Adorable.
12)  Who is Bea’s favourite Doggy friend?
She’s still learning to socialize – 6 years in a shelter can be tough on a dog. But so far she does okay with our friend Jacob and Jenna’s dog, Leah. Leah has a LOT of energy – she’ll get Bea to chase her, which is amazing since Bea doesn’t chase anything. Bea may be chasing her just to shut her up, but exercise is exercise.
13)  Does Bea have a party trick?
Play dead, but she does that on her own. She really is a lovable lump. We’ve taught her “sit,” “down,” and “stay” – the kindergarten of dogs tricks. We’re working on “paw,” “house,” and “type 40 words per minute”, but that last one is tough. Seems you’ve mastered it though.
14)  How has your life changed since having a Dog?
It just feels more complete – like I have a purpose. It’s hard to describe, but my wife says the same thing.
15)  Do you now understand the phrase about Dogs being Man’s Best Friend?
Sure – though Bea may love Sara more than me. Damn turkey treats.
16)  What advice would you give to anyone else who’s currently afraid of Dogs?
Meet the right dog. I’d be afraid of all people if the only one I met was Charles Manson. The only reason to be afraid of dogs is if you’re made out of baloney.

Thank you Steve for agreeing to be my ‘Interview Guinea Pig’ – you know what I mean! :)  If you’d like to hear more about how Steve, Sarah and Bea are getting on you can check out Steve’s new Blog - enjoy! :)

  1. That’s great. I’m so glad he found a dog that suits him. Everyone should be able to enjoy our company.
    Have a great day, Roxy

    • Hey Roxy,

You’re so right, that’s one reason I want to be a Therapy Dog, cos not everyone can have a Dog Full time, like say in some retirement homes, but I could go and visit them :)

      Have a fun day too,

      Your pal Snoopy :)

  2. I think you did a wonderful job, Snoopy’s mom. I’m a professional freelance journalist and I know a good interview when I read one – yours didn’t even have that “beginner” quality! Well done! :)

    • Oh, thanks, that’s very sweet of you to say (I didn’t realise your Mum was a journalist Daisy, cool! )

By the way, you know it was me, Snoops, who came up with the questions and did the interview, right?! :) Tee Hee

      Have a fun day,

      Snoops :)

  3. Better make room on the shelf for your future Pulitzer, Snoopy. ;)

  4. Very nicely done, Snoopy :)

  5. Great interview! My mommy thinks that there’s a doggie for every family. And I think she’s right. :)

Hope you’re doing GREAT today, Snoopy! :)

    Woofs & hugs,

    ~Bailey (Yep, I’m a girl!)

    • Hey Bailey,

I think your Mommy’s right too, I think maybe they’re always right! That’s what mine tells me! :)

Yep, I’m sure having a great day, hope you had a great one too!

      Wags to you,

      Snoops :)
