Last Friday was my first visit as a Therapy Dog – I was super excited….. we were going to visit some people in a local retirement home.
I was all groomed nicely for the occasion…..
When we arrived we met the other members of the Furry Friends Team. There were 2 Bernese Mountain Dogs, a Borzoi, and a Black Lab Mix. We all got on really well. Oh, I nearly forgot – there was also a CAT!
So, here’s the thing – we all said our hello’s before going in and I did really well, even going nose to nose with the Cat. After a little while inside I started to think a little too much about where the Cat might be and although I was still being good and letting people pet me I was looking under the table for the Cat.
I so enjoyed the visit and made lots of new friends, some of the people were telling Mum and I about the Dogs that they used to have. It was really fun.
As we were leaving I saw the Cat and as we got closer I got busted for ‘licking my lips!!’ – Mum said it’s really impolite to do that as you approach a Cat, Huh? The only other time I ever do that is if Mum asks me if I want my Dinner!! Can’t imagine what the connection is?
Mum’s really hoping that it works out in this Team as I’m in pretty close proximity to the Cat – I should note, I wasn’t the only Dog interested in the Cat, yeah, the others probably didn’t get caught licking their lips though!! Rookie mistake!!
I think our next visit is to a different centre where we go room to room to say Hello on our own – i.e. I won’t be with any Cats! Doh!!
Despite my little
bit of Mischief slip up Mum said she was really proud of me – yay!!
