How to Join a Twitter Chat ?

As promised on Sunday, I’m going to tell you a little more about the Twitter Chat I’m going to Co-host tomorrow with Pet360 and ASPCA.

We’re doing this so we can answer any questions people have about their Pet becoming a Therapy Pet, such as:

  1. What are the requirements to become a therapy animal?
  2. How is a therapy animal different from a service animal?
  3. Are some breeds better for being a therapy animal than others?
  4. Do puppies and kittens make good therapy animals?
  5. Can a pitbull become a therapy animal?
  6. What vaccines does my pet need before becoming a therapy animal?
  7. How did I get into therapy training?
  8. What was the most difficult part?
  9. What is the most rewarding part?
  10. Where do I provide therapy? How often?

Here I am with my buddy Buster at a retirement home last week – we were nearly done, but we were just checking to see if anyone arriving at the home wanted a pet – we don’t want to miss anyone :)

The Twitter Chat will be tomorrow (Thursday) at 7PM (EST). (#therapypets)

So what is a Twitter Chat?  It’s simply a way for people from all over to chat together at the same time about a particular subject.  The subject is denoted by a # (hashtag) – ours will be #therapypets

Where do you go to join in the Chat?  The easiest way I’ve discovered that is accessible for those on Twitter AND those not (who just want to observe) is Tweetchat.com – when you get to the home page, input thereapypets in the search box and you will see the live feed of what everyone is saying – If you are on Twitter you can log in too and then you can also comment.

Any questions, just let me know and I look forward to seeing you there :)

    • Hi Mollie,

I sure will try to capture it to post later (not sure how yet, but will work on it)

Btw, you don’t need a Twitter account to check out all the info – just go to http://tweetchat.com and type in therapypets in the search box where you see a # symbol – this will take you to all the related tweets on this subject so you can follow it – only if you want to join in and tweet too do you need a Twitter account – hope this helps :)

      Hope you’re having a fun day :)

      Snoops :)

  3. Thanks for the info Snoopy, we are going to try and join the chat but I work late that night, I hope I can make it!

  10. I’ll try to remember to pop in. I used to take my kids to nursing homes, back when we homeschooled, just to hand out cookies and milk. It was good for everyone. Not sure if my dogs could handle it, though.

Gosheroony, Snoopy! You are the Grand Master of finding new, fun stuff to do. Makes me wish I could be a therapy pet, too! Have fun on the Twitter Chat. Bettcha you will have a big audience! We will try to tune in out here in HI, around 1pm out time! — aunt Libby

    • Hi Aunt Libby,

Being a Therapy Dog is just so awesome – I get to go to lots of places and get lots of attention, couldn’t be better – well it could, but we’re not allowed treats – Doh!! :)

Cool that you might be on the Chat :)

      I hope you’re having a fun day,

      Snoops :)

  12. I’m no longer on twitter, but that sounds like a great chat you’re going to have. Hope it gets more people interested in therapy work. It’s such a rewarding way to share your dog’s love. :-)

    • Hi Donna,

Yep, Mum loves that she can share me with lots of other people :)

Just btw you don’t need to be a Twitter member to just observe the chat if you want to :)

      Wags to all

      Snoops :)

  13. Snoopy, how wonderful that you and your buddy visited the retirement home. We have a few therapy dog friends. The one Yorkie nearly didn’t pass her test because she has a hard time controlling her licker, haha.

    • Hi Kristin,

Oooops, glad the Yorkie managed to curb the licker just in time!! :)

It’s so much fun being a Therapy Dog, it’s really quite easy too, you just sit there and get petted, I love it :)

      I hope you’re having a fun day,

      Snoops :)

  14. Snoopy we will try and pop over. Have a great day.
    best wishes Molly

  15. I’d definitely be there to support you Snoops, but we don’t have a Twitter account. My mom does a lot of social media for her clients, so she said that doing Twitter or FB for herself feels too much like work! If she gets her book published, I’m sure she’ll have to do lots more social media for herself. :)
Daisy recently posted..A Wonderful Day!My Profile

    • Hi Daisy,

That’s a shame you don’t do Twitter – but I understand, I imagine you might be Tweeting all day long!! I sure hope she gets her book published, she’ll probably even have you working on her Twitter then cos she’ll be so busy :)

      Wags to all,

      Snoops :)

  16. Hey Snoopy, Jet here.

Have a great chat, Mom won’t let me use twitter yet. hmpf.

  17. Hi Snoops,

Sorry I missed your Twitter Chat. The boys and I went to Yappy Hour at the Ritz Carlton this evening. We actually chatted with some of our friends for little bit about getting Stetson involved in therapy work. Our friends are visiting Camp Pendleton so the soldiers can hang out and meet some of our pups. They invited Stetson along so we’re probably going to start working on his therapy dog certification.

I hope the twitter chat went well.

    Take care,
    Colby

    • Hey Colby,

You guys were living it up at the Ritz? How pawsome!! I’ve never heard of Yappy Hour before – I’m deprived!!

I think Stetson would be a wonderful Therapy Dog – Woohoo!! Can’t wait to hear how he gets on and of course, if you’ve got any questions, just let me know :)

      Big Wags to all,

      Snoops :)
