Monday Mischief – The early bird catches the worm! What worm?

Have you ever heard the phrase ‘The Early Bird Catches the Worm!’?

Well, there was no worm catching going on here this week, but Mum and Dad were getting up at 4am when they got back from their trip to the Amazon! (They said it was jet lag!)

Whatever the reason, I wasn’t happy and wasn’t ready to wake up THAT early!

They’re so noisy getting up I decided I might as well get up too and then went back to sleep in the office with my toys as they did ‘stuff’ on their computers!

Zzzzzzz

This continued a few days, but then one day I woke up and they weren’t awake yet, so I thought I’d wake them up, not something I normally do, but I thought they’d overslept – It was 4.45AM!

I did this for a couple of days, but they didn’t seem too happy with their new alarm clock – Mum spoke with Kasper’s Mum who looked after me whilst they were away and discovered this is the time she set her alarm clock!  Mum had thought it was odd that every day it was the exact same time!  Tee Hee

Mum and Dad and I reached a deal that we could ALL sleep in a little later in the mornings! No more mischief early mornings from any of us! :)

Who’s the first up in your house?

  1. Uncle Snoopy!

I wake dad up at breakfast time every morning, it is my job and I am very, very good at it! ;-)

  2. Oh, Snoopy! Sounds like you’re sleeping schedule was thrown off, for sure. Heather is the first one awake most days. She lets us know when she’s got to go! That’s when I jump out of bed and Mr. K follows us ladies downstairs and out the door for our morning walk. Much love, The Scottie Mom.

  3. I always make sure my person doesn’t sleep too late. She says it works better than her alarm clock because I don’t come with a snooze alarm.

    • Hey Bongo

You don’t have a snooze button? I do, my Mum says shhhhh and I have to wait a few minutes and then I wake her up again! Tee Hee

      Wags to all,

      Snoops :)

  4. Bentley is our alarm clock. Luckily, he likes to sleep late these days. A trip to the Amazon must have been incredible!

  5. The dogs are pretty happy to sleep in unless they really have to go to the bathroom. They eat breakfast then run back to bed.

  6. I totally get the early bird thing. Mom is up at 5:30 most mornings, so we all wander down to her office and go back to sleep for an hour or so while she works at her computer and then go out for a walk. I don’t know why she has to be up so early every day!

    • Hey Emma

That’s early buddy!! What is it with humans and getting up just to sit in the office? I just go back to sleep until it’s time to go for our walk…. :)

      Wags to all,

      Snoops :)

  7. I am usually the first one up at our house a little after 4 am. My mom and dad usually gets up at 4:15 a.m. M-F but on the weekends, not until 5 a.m. I let them know I am hungry for breakfast!

  8. But dogs are the BEST alarm clocks around!! Cute, fuzzy, and very accurate.

  9. I wake up before my dogs every day. Jasper and Lilah will jump up instantly and join me, as will the cats. Tucker would rather eke out a few more minutes in bed. But once he’s up, he’s all-terrier, all the time.

  11. I’m the first up at our house and Rudy is always so thrilled. Jeffie’s happy, but I think Rosie wishes we’d sleep in :-) When the time changes, does that throw you off, Snoopy? Time is such a strange thing…

    • Hi Sue

the time change doesn’t usually affect me so much, but getting up this early has been a real struggle, so happy I’m sleeping later now – zzzzz

  13. We set the alarm for 6:00 a.m. We shower then go downstairs to walk the dogs. Breakfast (for everyone) is at seven. On the very rare occasion we want to sleep late (major snow storm) I go downstairs and let them out for a quick one. Then go back to bed assuming I will get an extra hour or so. No way! At seven they will start to bark and howl. I have learned it is much easier to stay on schedule (and take a late morning nap) than to try to sleep late.

  14. Daddy’s up first in our house Snoops, I like to lay in , in the mornings BOL xxoxxx

  17. OMGoodness, S. It sounds like you were a very reliable alarm clock. Unappreciated, though…. Around here, Mom gets up first, and then she makes her tea and brings it back to bed along with a cookie for me. We stay in bed for another hour or so before we have to get going. Morning is our favorite time of day.

  18. I’m glad for everyone’s sake that you were able to get your clock reset, Snoopy!
Our crew is up about 5-5:15 every morning! This early rising was started by our Beagle Kobi and now carried on by our other beagle Cricket, and the new puppy. Lucky for me, my hubby doesn’t mind getting up that early….because it’s way too early for me!
BTW, after they have their breakfast, the dogs often go back to bed! :)

oooh 5.15 does sound rather early to me, though I’m sure I’d also like it better if breakfast was served! Around here I have to wait ages for breakfast – doh! :)

      Wags to all,

      Snoops :)

  21. Amazing how they seem to be able to tell time. Maya and Pierson try to be sneaky about the meal times, though. Dinner is at 7:30 pm, but sometimes they start acting up at about 6:30 in order to trick me into thinking it is dinner time.

      Love it!!

Now I have food I like, I sometimes start to remind Mum a little early, I usually just stare at her and she looks at the clock, she likes to wait until around 6pm, but it’s definitely not an exact science! One time I had to stare at Dad for ages, it was 8.30pm and he eventually called Mum at the airport and asked if she fed me before she left, you can guess she didn’t!! Outrageous hey? Luckily I have a good stare!

      Wags to all,

      Snoops :)

  24. I’m a fantastic alarm clock. Daddy always used to get up at 4 in his old job and he used to let me out for a wee before he left, so now I wake mummy up at 4 most mornings so i can do my business. She doesn’t always seem to pleased about that though lol

  25. Personally, getting woken up in the morning by your dog , is one of the best feelings I’ve ever experienced. definitely better than being woken up by irritating alarm clock sound :/

  26. Kurome is the one who always wakes up early :)

  27. Ha ha typists dog does that, because he is up at 6am on 5 days of the week he gets her up at 6 on Saturday as he worries she has slept in!!

    • Hey Dalton,

That sounds like Cosmo (next door), he gets his family up at 5am 7 days a week to put him in the garden to wait for us to go for our walk, I don’t think we’ve ever gone that early, but Cosmo doesn’t take any chances! :)

      Wags to all,

      Snoops :)
