Monday Mischief – Seniors like my Mischief

As some of you may know, as well as being a Master of Mischief I’m also a Therapy Dog.  As part of my job I visit lots of seniors in retirement and nursing homes.

The standard approach is to calmly come in to either their rooms or a main area and sit by them and let them pet me.  They like to pet me for ages because my hair is so long.  However, sometimes I like to mix it up and provide a little entertainment.

This week we were at a retirement home where we meet in the lobby and the residents come and sit with us.  It was actually raining outside (a rare event), so the fire was on.  I became super interested in the fire after a while!

Excuse me a minute everyone, this fire is fascinating!

I think I need to get a closer look, hey Echo are you photobombing my pic with your butt? :)

Mum finally realized what I was puzzled by was why there was a pine cone inside the fireplace? I thought it was a hedgehog! Tee Hee

Mum finally realized what I was puzzled by.  There was a pine cone inside the fireplace? I thought it was a Hedgehog! Tee Hee (Can you see it in the bottom left corner?)

All my friends thought I was super funny, once I’d satisfied my curiosity and realized I didn’t need to ‘Rescue the Hedgehog’ normal petting service was resumed! :)

  2. Hey Uncle Snoopy…

Had to drop a line and note my dada’s not to happy with something called Facebook … as we never see your posts there anymore… he says he has liked the page it’s just a facebook thing apparently… and how pages do or do not show up in ones news feeds.. whatever all that is…..

Things are great here in Alaska…. dad’s hoping breakup also know as “the time of mud” goes away soon as it is one of my favorite things…. to play in with my big little sister!

    Wags to all..

    • Hey Tigs

So sorry facebook has been doing mischief on you, it can be really naughty, especially if you don’t pay them I think, and I don’t think they accept carrots! :) I have a feeling you might be able to tell facebook which pages you really want to see?

So you’re telling me you got snow to play in all winter, now you’ve got mud? You sure landed on your paws buddy, you’re living the dream!

      Have fun,

      Snoops :)

  3. That fire looks pretty cozy. Glad you made sure everything and everybody was safe.

  4. My person says I can’t be a therapy dog. She says I’d get into too much mischief. I don’t know why she thinks that. It’s always the cats that get into mischief around here.

I really love seeing all my friends at the retirement homes, it’s a tough job to take all that petting, but I’m always up for it! :)

      Wags to all,

      Snoops :)

  6. How nice you are to visit the folks who need some cheering up and good company. I’m glad you decided not to “rescue” the hedgehog/pine cone.

  7. I bet you don’t get fires too often in CA. We live on ours in the winter here. Glad there was no hedghog in there, that would have been nasty!

    • hi Emma

You’re right, I was very relieved it was a pine cone! :) Yep, Mum was surprised to see they had the fire roaring, but very happy as we’d been dodging rain drops as we ran from the car to the main door! :)

      Wags to all,

      Snoops :)

  8. OMD! It is a hedge hog. You’re probably the best therapy dog, Snoopy.

    • Hey Dogdaz

You think it really was? Oh no, it tricked me! :)

I try my best to be a standard therapy dog but also like to do a little entertaining every now and then with a bit of mischief! Did I tell you I’d had my paws on the coffee table looking at the ornaments just before that? My senior pals love it when I’m silly! :)

      Wags to all,

      Snoops :)

  9. Haha! That’s very nice of you to provide a little extra entertainment!

    • Hey Molly

I have no clue how I’d have picked it up, I’d probably have just barked at it and let Mum deal with the technicalities! :)

      Wags to all,

      Snoops :)

  13. I hear hedgehogs don’t make good treats, Snoopy. Good thing you didn’t get it. Especially hedgehogs that are on fire.

  14. Didn’t know you do therapy work! What an inspiration :)

  15. I thought you were just mesmerized by the fire, and might be getting ready to take a nap. That’s what happens around here when we have a fire going! But I know you wouldn’t go to sleep on the job, Snoopy!

  16. Snoopy you’re so great and of course those seniors loved you! Sometimes I like to get close to the fire and the Big Guy jokes (not very funny in my opinion) about getting me that much closer. Something about prosciutto?

  17. Did you want to rescue the “hedgehog” or EAT the hedgehog? I have never seen a hedgehog. I think it might try to kill me.

  18. Aww I think typist has just fallen for you even more – wanting to rescue a hedgehog from a fire.

  19. Gotta watch those pine-cone hedgehogs Snoopy. They’ll trick you into getting burned!

  20. Hi Snoopy !

    Too funny photos ! :-)
I’m sure you wanted to save the hedgehog if it was in a real because you’re so good heart and you’re generous.
In any case, that your mom and you made for all these people is really touching. They are very beautiful actions and a beautiful lesson of live, sincerely.
At the next week ! :-)
